The law - The law requires employers to provide: - minimum wages,
- mandatory premium pay for overtime work,
- disability insurance for workers that become pregnant or disabled,
- worker compensation insurance for workers injured on the job
- protection from safety and health risks,
to name just a few. The law also prohibits employers (and sometimes other or ganizations like unions) from treating employees differently on the basis of sex, race, religion, disability, age and even sexual preference. Such conduct is prohibited by the NY State Human Rights Law and Title VII of the Federal Law.
